Nippers & Youth

The fun of surf life saving starts from when you join as a nipper.

North Haven Surf Life Saving Club: Nippers and Youth Programs

Our Nippers and Youth Programs cater to children and young adults aged 5-17, regardless of their skill levels. These programs emphasize personal growth, surf safety education, and surf sports competence, while fostering community engagement through volunteering and surf lifesaving initiatives. At North Haven Surf Life Saving Club, we welcome everyone to our inclusive, family-friendly community.

Inclusive Program - Kudlyu

We take pride in offering Kudlyu, a modified nippers program tailored for young individuals with additional needs and disabilities. Named after the Kaurna word for the Black Swan, Kudlyu aligns with our regular nippers schedule, providing a safe, inclusive beach environment.

  • Timing: Coincides with the mainstream Nippers program, concluding at 12:30 pm. Flexibility allows participants to engage as per their comfort levels, with the option to join the mainstream program whenever ready.

Youth Crew Program (Ages 13-17)

Youth Crew focuses on beach and water training every Saturday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, alongside additional weekly training sessions in various fitness areas. Check with the Junior and Youth Coordinator for the current schedule.

  • Community Engagement: Youth are encouraged to buddy with a Kudlyu participant and partake in community service.
  • Additional Opportunities:
    • Social activities throughout the season.
    • SLSSA Development Camp.
    • Youth Employment Program.
    • Surf Rescue Certificate.
